How well the harvest of fruit and vegetable products will be stored depends on the care of the plantings in the beds.
If we talk about beets, they should grow sweet and juicy first of all. The size of the vegetable is secondary for many housewives. But in order for beets to be stored for a long time, they need to be fed.
We will tell you what needs to be added to the beds and what the taste of the root crop depends on.
Nitrogen fertilizers are no longer used, unless, of course, the goal is to grow thick tops. In addition, beets tend to "consume nitrogen".
Organic fertilizers such as manure and compost, herbal infusions, etc. are also not suitable. The reason is the same nitrogen.
A gardener will not go wrong if, of all the possible additives for a sweet harvest that will last all winter, he adds phosphorus and potassium, as well as boron.
One of these fertilizers can be prepared by pouring two glasses of ash with two liters of boiling water. After two days, the concentrate is diluted in 10 liters of water and used for watering.
You can also add potassium monophosphate (10 g/10 l of water) or boric acid (4 g/10 l of water) to the leaves.
A solution of superphosphate (20 g/10 l of water) and potassium sulfate (10 g/10 l of water) is added under the root.
