Although pomegranate originally grew in Central Asia, Turkey, Transcaucasia and Iran, it can now be found in almost all countries with a tropical or subtropical climate.

An expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh told what conditions a pomegranate needs for growth and fruiting.

First of all, it is worth dwelling on such a characteristic as the winter hardiness of this plant.

The pomegranate begins to freeze when the thermometer drops below -18 degrees: the entire above-ground part of the tree, right down to the root collar, freezes.

If the temperature drops even lower, the underground part of the plant dies. Therefore, the main condition that must be observed when planting a pomegranate is to choose a territory for it where the air temperature never drops below -15 degrees.

In addition to heat, this plant requires sunlight, so only a sunny area is suitable for planting.

It would be better if you could place the seedling on a hill, making sure that the tree receives enough light due to the absence of buildings and other shading factors.

But pomegranate is not picky about soil - it prefers sandy or loamy soil, which should be well-drained, loose and oxygenated, with a neutral or slightly acidic indicator.
