Why tear off the top 2 leaves of peppers when planting: only the most cunning gardeners do this

The positive result is noticeable almost immediately.

Inexperienced gardeners, seeing what experienced gardeners do with peppers, are horrified. They do not understand why the top leaves are torn off from young plants.

But in practice, it's a valuable trick that helps answer an important question.

Why pick leaves?

In this way, summer residents check how well the pepper root system is compressed, how tightly the soil adheres to the roots.

This is important for peppers, because they will be less likely to get sick and will take root faster in a new place. This is done immediately after planting the seedlings.

How to do it right

First, you need to choose 1-2 plants that you like the least. Then you need to grab the 2 topmost leaves and pull them up.

If they have come off, and everything is fine with the seedlings, then the pepper will quickly take root and will soon delight you with a harvest.

If roots come out of the ground during the process, it means that you need to press the soil around the roots better. Then you don’t have to worry about the health and fruiting of the peppers.
