Currants have finished blooming, but there are still no berries on them? Here are the mistakes you made in the spring

Agricultural technology is a delicate matter, and the consequences of violating these rules are equally well felt in the vegetable garden and in the orchard.

For example, while admiring the blooming currant bushes, a summer resident may not expect a harvest of berries if he makes the following mistakes while caring for the bushes in the spring. There are six such mistakes in total.

Mistake #1

Summer residents love to loosen, dig and turn over. But in the root zone under the bushes, you need to act carefully, otherwise you can damage the root system, and then the bush will not yield a harvest because it will not be able to receive nutrients in full.

Mistake #2

Pruning is a good thing, but if you cut out everything you don't like or that bothers you, the harvest will be nothing. During annual pruning, it is permissible to remove 3-4 shoots. Only in case of disease or pest attack are all affected shoots removed. But sometimes spraying is more effective.

Mistake #3

You can't skimp on fertilizers, and folk dressings should not be considered the main source of nutrients. Compost or wood ash are used from organics. Complex fertilizers with nitrogen are used from minerals.

Mistake #4

It is also not good to completely refuse pruning. Old branches will prevent young shoots from growing, which provide the lion's share of the harvest. Therefore, shoots older than 3-4 years are removed.

Mistake #5

It is necessary to water currants in hot weather and when there is a lack of precipitation. Up to 3 buckets of water are poured under one bush once every 3-4 days, after which the soil must be mulched.

Mistake #6

We must not forget about pests, or rather about treatment. It is better to use biological preparations or other compounds that do not harm bees and other beneficial insects. Treatments are carried out before flowering, after flowering and once more after 10 days.
