In May, the ideal time comes for harvesting green cuttings and rooting them. But planting young plants is done a little later. The optimal time comes at the end of June.
Those crops that have the ability to quickly and in the required quantity form adventitious roots are suitable for cuttings.
What can be prepared in May
There are at least 10 ornamental crops that can be propagated by cuttings. In May, the following are rooted:
- actinidia;
- barberry;
- hydrangea;
- ornamental honeysuckle;
- juniper;
- lilac;
- spruce;
- thuja;
- jasmine (mock orange);
- Japanese quince (chaenomeles).
Green cuttings are also relevant for clematis. Roses can be propagated in a similar way, but the method is relevant only for small-leaved varieties.
