Strawberries are a tasty berry for numerous pests that summer residents have to fight with year after year.
Particularly “sneaky” are the mole cricket and slugs, which are capable of destroying the entire harvest in record time.
Instead of using chemicals to control insects, gardeners resort to a trick using plastic forks.
So, to do this you will need to break off 2 prongs located in the middle of the forks.
Stick the cutlery into the soil with the prongs facing up, and carefully place the berry into the resulting indentation, as if hanging it on a string.
This way you will not allow the berries to rot – this trick is especially good for large specimens, which almost always lie on the ground – and, accordingly, protect them from pests.
There is good news for those who do not accept the use of plastic.
Disposable cutlery made from this material can be replaced with old twigs and branches that look like a slingshot.
