The fight against slugs never ends with a victory for the gardener.

Even if you poison all the gastropods on the site with some effective drug, the uninvited guests will again come to the garden and vegetable garden, slowly but surely moving from neighboring plots, wastelands or thickets near the river.

And in this case, plants that pests don't like will help. With their help, you can make the area unattractive to gastropods.

Sagebrush

Wormwood is not only a fragrant bush that will make your garden smell good, but also a useful medicinal plant that also acts as a repellent. And not only against insects, but also against slugs.

Wormwood is an undemanding herb. It tolerates heat, drought, and grows in sandy soils.

Wormwood bushes look spectacular, so it is used in landscape design. Plant it on your plot, killing several birds with one stone - scaring away slugs and insect pests, decorating the plot, providing yourself with a medicinal plant.

Lavender

Lavender is another beautiful plant that repels slugs. Its aroma is not liked by this pest, but it attracts bees and other pollinators. A strip of lavender will look spectacular on the border of the site, fencing it off from uninvited guests.

Garlic

Slugs in the garden cause considerable damage to strawberries and salad greens. Garlic, which can be planted between plants or along the perimeter of the bed, helps to scare away these gourmets.

Mint

The strong menthol smell is very unpleasant for gastropods, so they crawl around its source. The problem with mint is that it actively reproduces by rhizome and instantly takes over the territory, turning into a malicious weed. Experienced gardeners plant it in buckets dug into the ground without a day or other containers. You can also build a border using slate, metal sheets or a concrete barrier.

Catnip

Unlike common mint, catnip grows as a bush, which looks very beautiful when planted together in flower beds. And in the garden, it attracts pollinators. Catnip can be planted in beds with strawberries, and it also gets along well with cucumbers, pumpkins, and squash.

Coriander

Coriander is another plant for saving the garden. Its specific aroma will mask the delicious smell of plants that the pest will want to dine on. Coriander can be sown after any other crop, as it does not form powerful bushes and does not shade the plants.

Observe the pests and remember their behavior. Which plants do they eat most willingly, and which ones do they not even crawl to? Reduce the number of tasty plants and increase the number of unpleasant ones. As a rule, gastropods do not tolerate strongly smelling herbs. But there are exceptions. For example, pests really like marigolds.
