Tomatoes are quite a demanding plant; they will produce a good harvest only when they receive everything important for their own development.
When adding fertilizers directly to the planting hole, you need to think about what is best to feed the plant. Contact of the seedling roots with the active substance can cause the seedling to burn, which will negatively affect the harvest.
It is better to choose organic matter for fertilizing. It is safer. It is not advisable to apply mineral substances under the root. Also, excess fertilizing when planting seedlings can kill the root apparatus of tomatoes.
The best option for fertilizing is humus. It is added to the prepared holes in advance, no later than 2 days before planting the seedlings.
The dosages are important here: about 50 g per bush. To prevent young roots of seedlings from getting burned, it is better to sprinkle them with soil.
Well-rotted compost is added under the bush in the amount of 250 g.
Tomatoes respond well to the introduction of wood ash. They actively grow and bear fruit from it, and the fruits become tastier.
A handful of ash will be enough for one hole.
Onion peel is considered a complex fertilizer. One handful of it is enough for a tomato bush. It fertilizes the soil, and when it rots, it becomes an excellent fertilizer.
Crushed eggshells provide tomatoes with calcium, which is necessary for normal fruiting and the prevention of blossom-end rot.
It is also a good idea to add fish waste, mixing it with the soil at the bottom of the hole. Tomatoes grow well on fish and please with rich harvests. It has everything they need: potassium, phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, and if you add crushed banana peel, the plants will get natural potassium from it.
By adding these components, you can grow strong, healthy and actively growing seedlings that are resistant to various external factors. Do not forget to add the necessary fertilizers when planting. This is the key to a bountiful harvest.
