Not always summer residents, on whose plots lush peony bushes are spread out, can boast of luxurious bouquets.

An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh says that flower growers often face such a problem as the absence of buds.

And even if buds do appear, they do not open, but dry up.

It turns out that this unpleasant phenomenon has several causes, the main one being the age of the plant.

The thing is that peonies do not bloom immediately after planting. Time must pass to enjoy the sight and fragrance of flowers.

In the first year of life in a new place, the plant adapts to the changed conditions and stems are formed.

Over the next 12 months, you can observe how the number of shoots increases and the peony tubers become thicker and stronger.

If buds form during this period, of which, by the way, there are usually 1-2, they should be picked off.

In the third year, the plant develops powerful roots. During this period, you can already see single flowers.
