To ensure that the eggplant harvest pleases you with both quality and quantity, you only need to devote a little time to it.
An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh listed the basic rules that experienced summer residents adhere to when growing eggplants on their plots.
Of course, you should start with watering. Despite the fact that the plant loves moisture, you should not overdo it with the volume of water poured onto the beds - 10 liters of water per square meter is enough.
The number of times you need to visit the beds with a watering can depends on what the weather is like outside.
If it is hot outside, you should water the eggplants 2-3 times a week; if the weather is moderate, once is enough.
Please note: you should not ignore this procedure, as it is precisely because of the lack of moisture that the eggplants will grow small and bitter. Sometimes, a lack of watering even leads to the ovaries falling off.
Once you've sorted out watering, it's time to pay attention to fertilizing.
Before the start of the fruiting period, it is worth using any organic fertilizer, which is applied to the beds 2 times with an interval of 15-20 days.
Finally, take care of the formation of the bush - when the height of the plant reaches 30 cm, pinch the top and, leaving the 5 strongest lateral shoots, get rid of the shoots that do not have buds.
