There is a myth among summer residents that honeysuckle does not reproduce well by cuttings.

However, any experienced gardener will say that this is not actually the case. There are some nuances in this matter, but every summer resident can figure them out.

It is important to choose the right time when you can get high-quality cuttings that will eventually root with a probability of 90-100%.

When choosing cuttings

There is little time to get cuttings. On average, there are 5-7 days when the first fruits appear on the bushes. To check the current year's shoot, you need to bend it into the letter U. If the branch does not break, then you can take cuttings.

The shoots for planting are cut early in the morning, before sunrise, when there is a lot of moisture on the stems. The size of the cutting is 15-20 cm. Immediately after this, the branch is placed in a container with a solution of heteroauxin.

Subtleties of harvesting cuttings

Remove 2-3 lower leaves from each cutting. Renew the cut with a blade approximately 1 cm below the bud. During pruning, try to ensure that the cutting has as little contact with air as possible. Ideally, the shoot should be completely immersed in water.

The cutting is kept in the heteroauxin solution for 24 hours. Before planting, it is kept in the shade and cool.

The next day, the cutting is stuck into a previously prepared cutting bed at an angle into the upper sandy layer of soil to the level of the upper internode, which contains the halves of the leaves.

Cover with agril - non-woven material, and on top - with old film. In the cuttings, it is important to observe two conditions - humidity and darkness. Ideally, organize everything in the shade.
