If you want to harvest plump, tasty berries from the cherry tree growing in your own garden every year, you will have to take good care of the tree.

Expert of the online publication BelNovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh shared the secrets of care that will help you achieve abundant fruiting.

First, you should pay attention to the soil on which the cherry grows. The tree prefers fertile loam with neutral acidity.

If you have determined that the soil under the tree is acidic, this should be corrected using lime, ash or dolomite flour.

Secondly, you shouldn’t be too zealous with watering: it should be moderate, but you also shouldn’t allow the soil to dry out.

Thirdly, do not ignore such a useful procedure as mulching. Thanks to mulch laid under the crown of the cherry, you will be able to retain moisture in the soil and reduce the number of weeds.

Finally, fourthly, don’t forget about fertilizers.

During the fruiting period, cherries need potassium and phosphorus. Calcium is needed to prevent the ovaries from falling off, and to strengthen the stalks, supply the trees with boron.
