A gardener should never stop improving the skills acquired over many plantings.

Technologies change, knowledge changes, and everything that might have been important during last year’s sowing season may be yesterday’s news this year.

We will tell you what two mistakes gardeners make out of ignorance, and then rack their brains over why the seeds did not hatch.

Experienced gardeners claim that in this case, you may not see any shoots at all.

Mistake one

An unforgivable mistake is the sowing depth. There is no average value that could be applied to all crops.

Before you start sowing, you need to thoroughly familiarize yourself with the characteristics of the plant.

First of all, pay attention to the sowing method, and then to care advice.

If we are talking about sowing petunias or berries - strawberries, wild strawberries, then surface sowing is used. The same applies to all small seeds.

If they are buried deep, they may not sprout at all. Often, flower growers and gardeners practice sowing such crops on snow.

Mistake two

It doesn't matter what fertilizers are used - mineral or organic. In the case of growing seedlings, an overdose is more acute than a lack of nutrients.

Therefore, you need to act strictly according to the instructions and measure out the additives by weight, not by eye.
