What should not be planted next to currants: plants that cause crop yields to drop

The yield of currants depends on a number of factors: variety, weather conditions, growing location, care.

The list can be supplemented with one more factor. The quality of the harvest depends on the plants that are adjacent to the currant.

Unsuccessful neighbors for currants

1. Red and white currants cannot be planted next to black currants. They have the same diseases and pests. If one bush gets sick, the problem will appear on the others very quickly.

2. Birch, plum, prune, shadberry - plants that "drink water" and create unfavorable conditions for currants. Berries become much smaller next to such neighbors.

3. Coniferous plants can infect currants with rust. Then you will have to save the bushes from the disease, and not count on a solid harvest.

4. Rose, rose hips, bird cherry, elderberry, and viburnum often suffer from aphids. The insect also loves currants, so it is better to keep these plants away from each other.

5. Currants also “conflict” with raspberries and cherries, which negatively affects the yield.
