A little trick from experienced gardeners will help you save money and sow as many onions as you need.

If summer residents suddenly don’t have enough onion sets for planting or they just decided to save money, then one interesting method comes to their aid.

A trick for sowing onions

First, the most massive bulbs are selected from the available sets. Then they are cut in half so that part of the bottom is on each slice.

Next, prepare a weak solution of potassium permanganate or fungicide, which is usually used for disinfection.

After processing, the cut is sprinkled with wood ash or coal powder. This measure helps to avoid rotting of the planting material.

Then the onions are planted as usual. Experienced gardeners do not worry that the divided bulbs will start to rot once they are in the soil. They grow and yield a harvest no worse, and sometimes even better, than whole bulbs.
