Almost all summer residents are probably engaged in growing potatoes, but, let's be honest, not every gardener manages to achieve impressive results.
To avoid the situation where you plant a bucket of potatoes and harvest half of the same capacity, listen to the advice of experienced farmers.
First of all, it is worth talking about planting material. Medium-sized tubers with well-developed sprouts are suitable for this.
As a rule, small potatoes produce large tubers, but in small quantities, and from large ones you should expect only small ones, so stick to the golden mean.
You shouldn't bury potatoes too deeply when planting. Instead, hill the bushes several times - this way the tubers will form better. Deep planting leads to the fact that the potato bush grows, but not into a tuber.
To ensure that the potato crop is especially tasty, after flowering, knock down the tops a little - this way the plants will direct all their energy to rooting, which means that the tubers will receive more nutrients and vitamins.
You can increase the yield by adding a little crushed onion peel, eggshells and ash to the holes when planting.
Thanks to this mixture, no pest will get to the tubers. In addition, you will also receive protection from numerous diseases and provide the crop with additional nutrition.
