Nitrogen is one of the three important nutritional elements for any plant.

Without it, full growth and development of either garden or vegetable crops is impossible.

Most often, plants experience a nitrogen deficiency in the spring. Experienced gardeners do not allow situations when shrubs or trees experience a shortage of the macronutrient.

Even a beginner can identify a nitrogen deficiency: thin and weak shoots, small and faded leaves, and a meager harvest.

Nitrogen fertilizers

1. Nitrate (calcium, potassium, magnesium nitrate). Fertilizer is applied when plants urgently need nitrogen.

Use in spring and summer. But not in autumn for digging. Nitrate fertilizers are absorbed only in sufficiently warm weather.

2. Ammonium (ammonium phosphate, ammonium sulfate). In spring, under digging. Longer action, nitrogen is absorbed evenly.

3. Urea. The time for fertilization is spring. Method - under digging. It is absorbed quickly, so summer residents often use the product as "first aid" for plants.

4. Ammonium nitrate. It is one of the earliest spring fertilizers. It is applied both in dry and dissolved form. It is absorbed even in unheated soil.

Any nitrogen fertilizer that is applied dry must be incorporated into the soil. If a solution is used, the soil must first be moistened with plain water.
