The apple blossom weevil, also known as the apple blossom weevil, causes a lot of trouble for gardeners who dream of harvesting a rich apple crop.

Summer residents are upset by the way the apple tree sheds its ovary. Because of this, you can easily be left without a harvest. The weevil is to blame for this.

It is not easy to defeat it. But there are two proven methods that experienced gardeners recommend.

To have time to help the tree, you need to start in early spring, when the air temperature warms up to +4 …+6 °C.

The old way

When the time comes for the buds to swell and open, a litter (film) is placed under the tree. Then the beetles are shaken off the tree using a long-handled beater.

At air temperature up to +10 °C the pests will fall on the litter. Then it remains to destroy the pests. In total, this procedure is carried out 2-3 times in early spring.

Insecticides

A modern option is special products against apple blossom weevil, which are sold in garden stores. But trees should be sprayed only during the day, when the weevil is active.

The pest can be stopped by using a trapping belt made of straw or corrugated paper.

The belt is dusted with powdered chlorophos, impregnated with a solution of malathion or their substitutes (100 g per 10 l). After flowering, the belt is removed and burned. In addition, the trees can be treated with a coniferous decoction.
