How to transplant roses to a new location in spring: rules you should know

09.03.2023 12:04

Early spring is a great time to replant roses. This should be done while the bush is still dormant, which means that the buds have not yet appeared.

Once the dates are chosen, you need to decide on a place. It should be well lit, and fragile flowers should not be planted in drafts.

You should not plant the plant in lowlands where water often stagnates, as this can lead to root rot.

The acidity of the soil should be close to neutral. You can pre-mix dolomite flour or wood ash into the soil.

The planting hole should not be too small. The optimal dimensions are 50-70 cm in width and the depth of the hole can be up to 60 cm.

You can fill the hole with compost, humus or wood ash.

You also need to remember some rules when digging up a bush. This should be done carefully so as not to damage the roots and at the same time preserve the earth lump. The seedling with the lump should be placed in an already prepared place, covered with soil and watered generously.
