Summer residents especially like complex solutions that allow them to deal with several problems at once.

People call it killing two birds with one stone. We will tell you how to defeat slugs lurking in early spring and at the same time improve the composition of the soil.

As is known, gastropod parasites spend the winter in the soil. Somewhere in its depths they lay eggs - up to 50 pieces from one individual. And if the unhatched offspring do not care about anything, then adult individuals are afraid of both chemicals and cold.

There is no need to tell what harm these creatures cause to crops. Strawberries on which the parasite is found are unlikely to be eaten or even processed. But in addition to berries, slugs love vegetables and young greens.

Of the folk remedies, only traps are effective against these creatures. But, as they say, you can't catch them all. Of course, you can keep ground toads in your garden, but this is a vague prospect.

Summer residents claim that slugs can still be destroyed without causing much harm to the soil.

To do this, you need to use diatomite - a natural material crushed into powder, which contains deposits of silica shells of diatom algae. The powder is scattered around the beds.

It will be useful for heavy soils - it will loosen the soil. But the most important thing is that by overcoming the barrier of diatomite, slugs will lose their protective layer and die in 2-3 days.

In addition, diatomite is a good fertilizer and natural insecticide.
