Few gardeners know that seemingly insignificant actions can lead to a significant reduction in the yield of tomato bushes.

BelNovosti online publication expert, agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh listed the main mistakes that can become an insurmountable obstacle to a bountiful harvest of delicious tomatoes.

1. You sow seeds for seedlings too early.

We understand that you want to collect aromatic and ripe fruits as soon as possible, but you shouldn’t put the seeds in the ground in January – otherwise, instead of strong and healthy seedlings, you will get saplings that look more like flowering trees, and sometimes even with ovaries.

If the tomatoes are indeterminate, the best time for sowing is early March.

Determinate varieties and hybrids should be sown after March 20.

2. You feel sorry for the containers for seedlings.

Nobody is a sport - you can sow tomatoes in small containers, where they will grow safely until picking, but you should transplant them into larger containers.

Just try transplanting seedlings into at least liter containers - the difference in the strength of the seedlings will become obvious.

3. You allow excess humidity in the greenhouse.

Remember: diseases do not appear out of nowhere, so if you do not want your tomatoes to be attacked by fungus, you will have to regularly ventilate the greenhouse.

Evaporation after watering plays a significant role in increasing air humidity in the greenhouse. To avoid this, you need to properly mulch the tomato beds.
