Over the years, the apple tree grows, but the yield decreases, which makes the inexperienced gardener wary.

In order for the tree to please with an enviable harvest for many years, you cannot ignore pruning. It is better to carry out the procedure in early spring, before the sap begins to flow.

Pruning can also be done in February, but only if the air temperature is above -5 °C.

In the upper part of the crown, weak and diseased branches are removed, young shoots are shortened. The cut is made at an angle of 45-60° 1 cm above the bud.

When pruning, it is worth keeping garden pitch with you, which you need to treat the cut areas with.

Shoots that are below 50 cm in height are removed without exception. The same is done with thin, small, twisted shoots that look inside the crown.

After pruning, the tree needs to be fed with nitrogen fertilizer. It will help the apple tree grow young shoots. Rotted manure is added to the soil during digging (4-6 kg per 1 sq. m of the trunk circle).
