Despite the high cost: why gardeners are in no hurry to give up nutshell mulch

Modern gardeners and vegetable growers have a wide choice of materials for mulching.

There is bark, wood chips, hay, straw, sawdust, and pine needles... Is it worth continuing the list, which seems endless?

A special place in this list is occupied by such material as nut shells.

This species is rightfully considered one of the most expensive, so why is it not so rare to find beds mulched with shells?

The whole point is that summer residents do not buy nuts only to use them to cover crops growing on the plot, but simply accumulate what others consider to be garbage left over from eaten nuts.

Shells from walnuts, pine nuts, pecans, hazelnuts and others are equally suitable for mulching, so in large families who love nuts, collecting the required amount is not difficult.

Walnut shell mulch is commonly used in small flower beds containing roses, lilies, other perennials, and woody plants.

However, do not forget - when changing any mulching material, the old one should be completely removed, especially where plants prone to fungal diseases grow - all the same roses.
