The best time to sow this crop is February-March. In this case, you also need to take into account the weather.

But how do you know when it's time to plant this plant in open ground? It's simple. You should count 40 days from the time when the leek will be planted for seedlings, and you also need to add another week for the seeds to germinate.

Before planting seeds, you should also prepare.

Seed preparation

First, they need to be soaked in hot water for 20 minutes.

Afterwards, they need to be given time to dry out. Only then can you move on to sowing.

Soil preparation

The container should be 10 cm high. It should be filled with loose nutrient substrate. Biohumus will do.

Planting seeds

The grooves should be no deeper than 1 centimeter. The distance between them should be 2 centimeters.

As soon as the seeds are embedded in the soil, you should water the plantings and cover them with a bag, and then put them in a warm place (the temperature should be about 23-25 degrees Celsius).

Care after emergence

It is advisable to keep the seedlings in a light place at 12-15 degrees Celsius for the first 5 days. After that, they can be moved to a warmer place (+20 degrees).

It is also worth noting that onions that grow in a common container will develop only up to a certain period, and then will begin to dry out. This means that they should be transplanted into separate cups.

Transplantation into open ground

You need to choose a sunny place.

Plants should be spaced 30 centimeters apart.

Leeks need more water for normal growth and development. Therefore, you will have to water the beds often. But you should not allow overflow.
