Many gardeners have heard about the lavender fields in France, and some of them have seen the Provencal beauty with their own eyes.

Impressed by the blooming lavender, summer residents try to grow it on their plots. But not everyone succeeds.

The plant's seeds germinate poorly for beginners. In addition, the Mediterranean guest loves a warm climate and unique soil.

The capriciousness of lavender forced gardeners to find an alternative. Breeders developed a hybrid plant and called it lavandin. The lavender analogue blooms more luxuriantly and longer, is less demanding of lighting and tolerates cold better.

In terms of decoration, lavandin is also not inferior. The plant is taller than lavender, it has longer flowers, fluffy and bright inflorescences. The smell of the flower is sharper due to the high content of camphor.

The downside is that lavandin is propagated by cuttings and root division. The plant does not produce viable seeds.
