Growing apricots is a risky and at the same time exciting activity in regions where the weather can present a “surprise”.
This plant is very sensitive to temperature fluctuations. At the end of February or beginning of March, the buds can come out of dormancy at +5 °C and freeze at -8 °C.
When the ovary is formed, even -1 °C is fatal. That is why apricots can be difficult for amateur gardeners to grow.
When weather obstacles are overcome, another misfortune may arise. It is reflected on the fruits by "rusty" spots.
The problem is not in the variety, but in a dangerous disease. Dark red spots often appear due to coccomycosis. In this case, changes in color are noticeable not only on the fruits, but also on the leaves.
Due to a fungal disease, apricots become watery, lose their taste and do not develop fully.
Apricots can be saved from the disease if they are treated with chorus or Bordeaux mixture. Spray the plants once every 7 days.
In addition, the lower part of the tree trunk is covered with lime or copper sulfate solution.
