After an orchid bought in a store or given as a gift has finished blooming, its owners eagerly await a new flower stalk.

But months and even years pass, and there are no new buds and none are expected. Now it's time to talk about mistakes in flower care. Here's how to fix them and wake up the capricious flower.

Why the orchid does not bloom

There is only one reason: the conditions created are far from the natural environment, and therefore the plant prefers to remain in a state of rest until a better moment. In this case, new foliage can grow, but not flower stalks.

Errors

Housewives can bring the plant to this state by excessive care or vice versa, for example:

  • overwatering or lack of nutrients;
  • poor substrate or development of putrefactive processes;
  • small pot or growing under stress.

It is also important to remember that only mature plants older than 1.5-3 years bloom.

What to do

1. Avoid drafts and growing orchids in rooms where people smoke constantly.

2. Provide the flower with a temperature difference: the difference between day and night temperatures should be approximately 4-6 degrees Celsius.

3. If necessary, plant the plant in a more spacious pot, replacing the substrate. At the same time, you can inspect the roots for rot development and carry out the necessary treatments.

4. After thorough watering, leave the plant for 2 weeks without moisture, adding succinic acid or "Epin" during the week.

5. Give the orchid a bath (water 35-40 degrees), and then leave it in a steam-heated bathroom.

After this, all that remains is to provide the plant with 16 hours of light per day and high air humidity.
