Many summer residents go to the market or shops in search of onion sets at the end of February.

At this time, sellers offer many more options of different varieties, whereas closer to May there are fewer and fewer sets on the shelves, and the choice becomes very limited.

Therefore, gardeners are forced to stock up on seed material in advance, which is why they have to puzzle over how to preserve valuable onions until the moment of planting.

In fact, there is nothing complicated in creating suitable conditions for storing sets.

First of all, it should be taken to a dry room, where the air temperature does not exceed +1..+4 degrees.

If you live in a private house, the basement may well be such a room. Apartment dwellers should put the onion sets in the refrigerator, in the section intended for storing vegetables.

Important: you cannot leave onion sets in a bag for a long time, as the lack of fresh air will lead to the onset of the rotting process.

Don't forget to take the small bulbs out of the cellar or refrigerator 10 days before the expected planting so that the necessary biological processes can start in them.
