This popular fertilizer can become a "poison" for cherries: here's why there are few berries

One ill-considered step and a useful fertilizer can ruin the harvest.

Trying to make trees bear fruit better, some gardeners cross all boundaries. They don’t even suspect that they are not just doing Sisyphean labor, but harming their garden.

In the second half of June, when there is very little time left before fruiting, summer residents apply additional fertilizers.

Among the list of fertilizers there is nitrogen, which the cherry does not need from mid-June. If in spring this macroelement stimulates the growth of green mass, then in mid-summer it can cause the process to resume.
In this case, the tree begins to actively grow foliage and fresh fruit, but it will not have time to ripen before autumn.

As a result, the plant has no strength for either the old ovary or the new one. The number of berries can be counted on the fingers. It will not be possible to correct overfeeding with nitrogen. You will have to wait for the new season.

It is better to feed the tree immediately in the spring with a complex fertilizer that contains nitrogen, potassium, calcium, phosphorus and a number of valuable microelements. This is enough to form fruits that will remain to be collected in the summer, and then prepare the tree for the next season.
