Many summer residents, having collected a harvest of ripe and tasty cherries or sweet cherries, are disappointed to discover small white worms in the berries.

According to the expert of the online publication Belnovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , the reason for this is the cherry fly, whose larvae feed on the pulp of the fruit.

What should we do in this case?

The answer depends on the condition in which the wormy cherries were collected.

If you managed to catch the larva at an early stage of development, you can get rid of it by soaking the berries in cold salted water - to prepare the solution, you will have to dilute 10 g of salt in a liter of water.

After 20-30 minutes, you will see that the worms have floated to the surface, after which you will only need to take out the berries and wash them thoroughly.

But if the grown larva has managed to destroy most of the berries, you shouldn’t count on a miracle.

Such fruits are not suitable for eating fresh or using for canning.
