The bark and branches of young apple trees are a real treat for mice, rats and hares, who are forced to look for food during the hungry winter.

In order to prevent the destruction of the garden, the expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh advises to provide the necessary protection for the plantings, and also not to delay treatment if the trees are damaged.

To begin treating trees damaged by sharp teeth, it is not necessary to wait until spring – this can be done in winter.

Film will help protect the apple tree from frost cracks. It is worth wrapping the trunk in several layers, and adding a layer of roofing felt on top.

But when the snow melts, you can begin full-fledged treatment.

In this case, clay mash will come to the rescue. First, clean the edges of the wound to a healthy area, then coat it with a clay-based solution and wrap the tree in cotton cloth.

Here is a recipe for clay mash: fill a bucket halfway with clay, then fill the contents with water so that the liquid rises 2 cm above the clay level.

Leave the future "medicine" to soak, remembering to stir it gradually. This process will take about 2 hours - after this time, the lumps will disperse, and the chatterbox is ready for use.
