How to water an orchid properly so that it blooms and develops well
The orchid is a very grateful plant because its flowering continues for several weeks.
It is increasingly beginning to be appreciated and grown by flower growers. There are a great number of varieties of this flower, for every taste and budget.
But in order to wait for it to bloom, you need to know all the shortcomings of this capricious beauty.
There are several important tips, but special attention should be paid to watering the plant.
Phalaenopsis is usually watered by soaking the pot in a container of water. To do this, the flower is planted in a special double pot or placed in a vessel with warm water. It covers the pot a few centimeters from the top.
The plant should remain like this for 15-20 minutes. The water slowly saturates the substrate where the flower grows with moisture. When the orchid begins to throw out the first buds for flowering, it is fed with a special fertilizer for orchids.
It is dissolved in water or a fertilizer stick is stuck into the substrate. But this should be done very rarely, so as not to overfeed the plant.
If you water the flower from above on the substrate, you need to try to get to the aerial roots of the plant so that they become greener and fleshier. Also, during such procedures, a hygienic procedure is carried out: old yellowed or wrinkled leaves, dry aerial rhizomes and spent flower stalks are removed.
After the specified time, the water from the container is completely drained so that the roots do not rot, which will lead to the rapid death of the plant.
At the same time, the double flowerpot must be thoroughly washed on the outside and inside to remove any possible harmful fungi and bacteria.
When watering orchids, pay attention to the dryness of the air in the room where they grow, and the time of year. Especially in winter when the heating is on or in the summer heat. The plant should be soaked at least once every 7-10 days, and at other times it should be watered much less.
