Summer residents have heard that spring is an excellent time for pruning fruit crops in the garden.

But many have a vague idea of the ideal period for this procedure. Some amateur gardeners rely on only one sign - before the buds swell.

However, it is important not to act hastily, otherwise you can harm the bushes. There are several nuances on how to choose the most appropriate moment.

If spring is early, then you can prune currants in the first days of March or even at the end of February. When winter does not want to leave, you will have to wait until the last days of May or even the beginning of April.

Gardens further north require attention a little later than those in the center or south. Sometimes the difference is up to two weeks.

But on average in Belarus, currant pruning is carried out closer to mid-March, as in the European part of Russia. But in the southern regions of the Russian Federation, currant care begins around the end of January or in February.

If gardeners are late with pruning, then only broken shoots are removed. This must be done, because the disease can start spreading from them. Then full pruning can be done in the fall - until mid-October.
