Florists who grow tulips in their gardens ask themselves: how to prolong their flowering?
In some flowerbeds, tulips remain in their original form for 2 weeks, while in others they last 5-7 days and that’s it.
Basically, tulips bloom for 7-14 days. Fertilizers and dressings also affect the duration of flowering, but mainly on growth and vegetation.
The duration of tulip flowering is influenced by watering (its frequency), soil quality, and planting depth.
Flowering largely depends on the variety, weather conditions, climate. You can extend flowering to 5 and even 7 weeks if you plant many different varieties and groups: from the earliest to the latest.
Boron and phosphorus are responsible for the lush and long flowering of plants. Tulips will need additional feeding immediately after the formation of buds.
To prepare a natural fertilizer, mix 5 liters of water, ½ cup of ash and 0.5 g of boric acid.
During the period of budding and flowering, watering is important; it will help to prolong the flowering of plants: up to 20-40 liters of water per 1 square meter.
