To get tasty and juicy strawberries, you need to properly care for this plant. You need to start at the beginning of spring, as soon as the snow melts.

If you skip treating your plants in the spring, you may not get a harvest of berries.

The first thing to do in March - April is to inspect all the bushes and decide on the processing methods.

First, remove last year's mulch, old dry leaves, weeds, and various remains from the area and take them outside and burn them.

Then pour boiling water over the soil to protect the strawberries from harmful insects and their larvae that have overwintered in the soil. You can add potassium permanganate or iodine to the boiling water.

Next, it is advisable to remove the top layer of soil and loosen it well to remove pest larvae and warm the soil. After this, the space between the rows is covered with hay or other available mulch.

It is necessary to sprinkle the strawberry beds with fertilizer that contains nitrogen. Also, the rosettes of the bushes are cut to 5 cm in height and cleaned of dry inflorescences and tendrils. This must be done carefully so as not to damage the core of the plant.

In spring, new strawberry beds are usually planted. Healthy and mature seedlings are transplanted, and sick and old bushes are destroyed.

Then it is watered well and covered with material to create conditions for better survival.
