Overgrown seedlings do not promise a rich harvest, but just the opposite. Gardeners are especially worried about tomato seedlings.

Let's figure out whether it is possible to influence this process, and at the same time we will tell you what causes it and how to harvest from overgrown seedlings.

Causes and factors

The gardener is primarily to blame for this, having sown the seeds for seedlings before the due date, having allowed dense sowing and not having started picking in a timely manner.

Objective reasons include poor lighting and high indoor air temperature.

How to restrain seedling growth

1. Carefully remove the cotyledon leaves, leaving a stem 1-2 cm high. The stem will then become stronger, and the seedlings will slow down their growth.

2. Refrain from nitrogen-based fertilizers. It is better to switch to potassium and phosphorus, which are what form powerful and strong bushes.

3. To restrain growth, you can transplant the seedlings into a larger container without dismantling the root ball.

4. When overgrown plants form an inflorescence, remove the top (20 cm), leaving no more than three lower leaves (the tops can be rooted using Kornevin).

And the last thing. You can use special preparations that inhibit the growth of garden crops. Such is "Athlete" and other analogues.
