February is not the time to while away the days watching your favorite TV series. It's time to get ready for the summer cottage season, so that you can solve a few important issues before the sowing season begins.

We'll tell you what things you need to plan for the last days of winter so that you can get everything done by spring.

1. Preparing the soil for seedlings

It is important to take care of future seedlings and minimize the risk of spreading diseases developing in the soil. For disinfection, use Fitosporin. The solution is poured onto the soil in which the seedlings will be sown two weeks before sowing.

2. Picking seedlings

In case of early sowing of seeds, the shoots can already form 2 leaves, which means they will be ready for picking. If you keep them in a common container for too long, they will start competing for light, space, nutrition.

3. We sow in February

This is a good time to sow celery, strawberries, peppers and eggplants, tomatoes, and perennial flowers (phlox, primroses, aconites, carnations, bells, peonies, etc.).

4. Vegetables and greens on the windowsill

In the second half of February, you can sow greens and other vegetable crops on the windowsill. At this time, you can do without additional lighting and the seedlings will not stretch out.

5. Countryside supplies

During this period, it is necessary to replenish the stocks of preparations used to treat plants from fungal diseases and insects. These can be biological preparations "Alirin-B", "Fitosporin", "Trichocin", etc.

If we talk specifically about gardening, then this is the most suitable time to collect the remaining snow under fruit crops or, on the contrary, to get rid of it if there is a threat of flooding or stagnant melt water.
