What mistakes to avoid when mulching the soil
Many gardeners are used to covering their beds with a thin layer, and then are surprised that there is no harvest. For mulch to work fully, the layer should be about 5 cm.
Mulch should be added periodically. The soil needs nutrition, only in this case it will thank you with fertility.
Plants need microelements, and the best potassium-phosphorus fertilizer is wood ash. It is not necessary to burn everything.
You can cover the soil with mulch and get almost the same result as from ash. Plus - the energy of fertility, which is lost during burning.
Another mistake gardeners make is to mulch in the fall and then rake and burn the mulch in the spring. But many forget that last year's mulch is saturated with beneficial microorganisms.
In the spring, you can simply pull back the mulch, plant the seedlings and cover again.
