Florists argue about how to properly water indoor plants in winter: through a tray or a pot.

Each side presents its own arguments, so it is very difficult to resolve this dispute without a specialist.

An expert of the online publication Belnovosti , agronomist and author of the blog Conscious Gardening Anastasia Kovrizhnykh explained how to properly water flowers in winter.

The specialist pointed out that the size of the trays varies among plants. Because of this, some flowers may need too much water, while others may not.

A more reliable way of watering is through a pot. But there is one important nuance here, which concerns the winter period.

Flowers are given enough water until the liquid starts to come out through the drainage hole and accumulate in the tray. This means that the plant has enough moisture. The excess water that has accumulated in the tray is simply drained.

In winter, you must not allow water to accumulate. This can lead to root rot and plant death. In winter, plants are less demanding of watering due to shorter daylight hours.
