More and more often, summer residents, to their regret, note that winters are not as snowy as they used to be.

Expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh reminds us that it is snow that protects plants from freezing.

One such crop that requires snow cover is strawberries.

After a winter with little snow, strawberry leaves often acquire a brown tint or turn black, and sometimes even wither completely.

It will take a little effort to fix the situation.

So, summer residents who find themselves in a similar situation are in no hurry to dig up the rosettes, but wait for the arrival of spring, because with the onset of warm days the bushes can come to their senses.

Until spring comes, use scissors to cut off everything that has lost its usual color – get rid of black and brown shoots, and then loosen the space between the rows.

And now the most important thing - feeding. To fertilize strawberry beds, use superphosphate and ash infusion (1 tbsp. per 10 l of hot water and leave for a day). You can use "Epin".

To wake up the bushes, you can cover them with spunbond (white material). This way you will also protect them from the scorching sun rays.
