Every gardener knows that in order to grow a good harvest of beets or carrots, it is necessary to thin them out in a timely manner.

Otherwise, the vegetables will grow not just small, but most likely dry, tasteless and maybe even deformed. But there is another point of view.

Thrifty gardeners, who especially value each grain from the seed packet, prefer a planting method that excludes the thinning procedure as such. How to grow beets without thinning?

First, you need to choose special varieties - single-sprout ones.

These are “Aya” (early and cold-resistant), “Bordeaux” (mid-early beetroot), “Valenta” (early ripening sugary hybrid), “Virovskaya” (mid-season variety), “Odnorostkovaya” (mid-season, varietal) and “Khavskaya” (large-fruited and resistant to “flowering”).

Secondly, you need to stick to the seedling method of planting

In this case, you can plant absolutely any varieties that are capable of producing a harvest in your region.

How to proceed. The day before sowing, soak the seeds in warm water. During this time, they will swell, after which they can be placed in the soil to a depth of 1 cm, sprinkled with soil on top.

Then everything is standard: watering, covering with film, germination in a warm room. When a couple of leaves appear, the shoots are transplanted into containers. If there is not enough light, the seedlings may begin to stretch. Therefore, it is necessary to provide for the possibility of additional lighting.

Beet seedlings are transplanted when the outside air temperature exceeds 10 degrees Celsius.

The most important thing! In this case, summer residents not only save time on thinning, but also get the opportunity to harvest 2-3 weeks earlier.

Thirdly, there is the easiest way

To avoid thinning, simply plant the seeds in the bed at intervals of 8-10 cm.
