Many summer residents complain that planted seeds germinate slowly, and sometimes seedlings do not appear at all.
An expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist, and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh told us what mistakes could be the cause.
Despite the fact that the cost of high-quality, proven seeds from well-known companies is often an order of magnitude higher, it is not worth saving on seed material.
No one will argue that the price includes the company's advertising costs. However, the company pays no less, but much more attention to quality control of its products.
The process of seed germination is directly related to whether you were able to create suitable conditions for this, and first of all, to provide the necessary soil moisture.
Important: to ensure that the seeds receive sufficient moisture, many gardeners resort to a procedure such as soaking before sowing. However, this operation is not always necessary - if we are talking about seeds that have already been treated by the manufacturer with a growth stimulant, microelements and pest and disease control agents, such preparation will lead to all these additives simply being washed away.
Finally, one should not underestimate not only the air temperature, but also the soil temperature. As a rule, these indicators differ by 2-3 degrees, but even such a small difference can be critical.
Remember – the optimal temperature required for seed germination is 18-24 degrees.
