The second winter month is coming to an end, which means that gardeners are already at the ready. Containers and soil, seeds and fertilizers have long been prepared.

All that remains is to decide on the timing, germinate the seeds and the dacha life will boil and bubble. Let us remind you which crops are best to sow in February.

The last month of winter is suitable for sowing vegetable, berry and flower seedlings.

Features of planting in winter

It is important to calculate the sowing date first. That is, to calculate the time and temperature when everything that will be sown in February will be able to move to the greenhouse or into the ground. The calculation is made for each crop, but usually February is the time for sowing vegetables, flowers and berries.

Vegetables

1. Tomatoes. The vegetation period is about 100 or slightly more days. They can be transplanted into a greenhouse in May, and in the south even into open ground. Sowing is carried out at the end of February.

2. Pepper. Start sowing in the last ten days of February, since the vegetation period takes about 50-65 days after the emergence of seedlings. Do not forget to pre-prepare the seeds by soaking them in a growth stimulator.

3. Eggplants are sown for seedlings in the last week of February. The seedlings are moved to the greenhouse in mid-May.

4. Onion. A good way to get an early harvest is to grow this crop using seedlings. Sowing is done in the middle of the month.

5. Celery takes quite a long time to grow – up to 2 months. The first shoots appear after about 3 weeks.

Berries

1. Strawberries begin to grow at the end of February. In two months you can get strong bushes that can be transplanted to the beds at the end of spring or the beginning of summer.

2. Strawberries. You can sow strawberries at the same time. The terms and conditions for growing seedlings of these berries are approximately the same.

Flowers and herbs

Now is the time to plant lavender, carnations, roses, petunias, begonias and pansies.

Don't forget about the recommendations of the lunar calendar!
