Inexperienced gardeners think that they are benefiting the seedlings, but in reality everything turns out to be exactly the opposite.

At the end of winter, many gardeners begin preparing for the new season: preparing seeds and soil for seedlings, planning the plot, and selecting fertilizers.

Some summer residents stock up on sawdust. It is an excellent covering material, not bad mulch. Sawdust makes the soil looser, improves oxygen access.

In addition, it is believed that this material serves as a good fertilizer for seedlings, so it is used as a top dressing. Not all gardeners agree with the latter option of use.

Sawdust has very little nutritional value for young plants. Adding it without any additional means creates the risk that the seedlings will simply starve. If the situation is not corrected, the plants may die before they reach the garden.

Therefore, seedlings are additionally fed with both folk remedies and special preparations (Izumrud, Krepysh, Gumat, Fertiko, etc.). Fertilizers are applied when the first 3-4 true leaves appear.

Lighting is important for seedlings. If early planting is done (January and early February), then additional lighting is indispensable.
