Before planting garlic in the spring, you need to select suitable specimens that will produce strong, friendly shoots.

Then it's just a matter of technique - care, watering and fertilizing - and the harvest can be collected in baskets. We'll tell you how to choose garlic for planting and what to do to ensure it takes root.

There are some simple tips for this case.

1. You need to choose garlic that is neither dry nor wet, i.e. send for processing heads that crumble, from which the husk falls off, as well as wet and unripe ones.

2. The culling is done about a couple of weeks before planting. In this case, you should not sort out the garlic heads. But not all gardeners agree with this statement.

3. When planting garlic that was stored in a damp room with sprouted roots up to 3-4 mm in size, do not press them into the ground - you can damage the roots.

4. Another important point is the quality of the garlic head. It is believed that the fewer cloves it has, the worse the varietal qualities will be in the new generation harvest. Most likely, these will be small heads, and there will be few cloves in them.

And finally, when planting spring garlic, do not be lazy to germinate it. To do this, place the cloves in a damp cloth or damp sand and put them in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. After that, the cloves can be planted in the garden - it will not disappear even in cold and damp soil.
