Summer residents and experienced gardeners love crocuses because they are among the first to bloom.

While the vegetable garden and orchard are just “waking up”, the saffron is already delighting us with its gorgeous buds.

Crocus is considered an unpretentious plant. However, this flower does not tolerate a number of mistakes of summer residents. Due to some mistakes, saffron will not bloom.

An expert of the online publication Belnovosti , agronomist and author of the blog Conscious Gardening Anastasia Kovrizhnykh listed the most common mistakes of summer residents.

Crowded landing

One of the main reasons why crocuses do not bloom. The plants do not have enough resources to produce buds. In this case, the crocuses are dug up, dried and planted in the fall.

Not enough moisture

Crocuses like well-moistened soil. If there was little precipitation in winter and the soil is dry in spring, the saffron may not bloom. Watering activates the necessary processes.

Deep planting

Many summer residents plant the bulb very deep, fearing that frosts may damage the planting material. The expert advises to plant the bulb no deeper than 5 cm.
