Not only roses, but also peonies are rightfully considered a real decoration of garden plots.

Lush and bright flowers with an amazing aroma bring a touch of romanticism, and no gardener wants to miss this moment. Here's how to take care of these flowers in early spring.

Where to start

Only in the first year after planting are there difficulties with flowering. Then the bush is abundantly covered with buds, but the peak of flowering is reached in the third year.

Work should begin in March, fertilizers are applied on melting snow or on the ice crust. It is necessary to add 20 g of urea - it will be absorbed with melt water. But if the plant is young - 1-2 years old, then you can not feed.

The snow has melted

As soon as all the snow melts, you need to tidy up under the bush, remove the cover from tree varieties (in this case, the air temperature should not be below -5 degrees). Then the soil is watered with a solution of potassium permanganate (2 g per 10 liters of water).

After this, we loosen the soil, but it is important not to damage the sprouts. For this, the depth of loosening at the stems is no more than 5-7 cm, further from the root it is possible to a depth of 10-15 cm.

Processing

It is carried out after the shoots grow. A 1% solution of Bordeaux mixture is used.

To prevent the spread of gray mold, fungicides are used.

Watering

In dry weather, to promote growth and bud formation, peonies are watered generously and regularly, preferably in the evening.

Feeding peonies in spring

Top dressing is carried out during the budding period, and 2 weeks before flowering, an infusion of mullein (1:10) is added, to which 20 g of potassium sulfate and 40 g of superphosphate must be added.

It is enough to carry out foliar feeding once a month with complex mineral fertilizer.
