In addition to preparing the soil for sowing seeds for seedlings, summer residents have to think about containers for future vegetable bushes.
Traditionally, you have to choose between boxes or containers and various cups. There is no argument – peat pots are better, but they are also more expensive.
We will tell you when it is better to sow in boxes, and when everything should be in separate containers.
This is a proven method for those who grow seedlings almost on an industrial scale. Such containers can be knocked together from scrap materials, they are inexpensive, but the most important thing is that seedlings in large boxes are easier to care for - water, feed, etc.
If you suddenly have to move the container, not everyone will be able to do it. Even turning the box to the other side of the window to straighten the leaning greenery will be difficult. Another significant disadvantage is drainage holes. Drilling them is not a problem, the problem is finding a suitable container in which excess moisture could accumulate under the box.
And one more thing - when removing seedlings from the box for transplanting, you can damage the roots.
Compared to bulky boxes, plastic containers are somewhat more convenient. But in general, the advantages and disadvantages are the same.
In this case, each seedling has its own container, which ensures convenience during transplantation. Seedlings taken from such containers take root faster, and they have only one drawback - they serve no longer than 1-2 seasons.
But if we talk about sour cream cups, etc., then over the winter you can collect a whole set of such pots and almost for free.
They are stronger than cassettes, and the results of growing seedlings in them are no worse.
The only inconvenience is transporting seedlings in such cups.
