Beautiful and bright dahlias will not survive the winter, so gardeners dig them up in the fall.
In spring, the flowers are returned to the open ground. At this stage, gardeners are divided into two types. The first simply plant dahlias, and the second do simple manipulations before planting.
If you simply plant dahlias in the ground, they will grow and produce buds, but they will not bloom magnificently.
After wintering, experts advise shallowly burying the rhizomes in a pot with soil, and then placing the container in the light.
Thanks to this, the plants will revive and adapt faster. This way, the dahlias will have more time to bloom, so it will be more abundant.
You can skip the pot stage. But this way the flowers will take longer to root. Plants should be planted when the threat of frost has passed, for example, in mid-May.
To consolidate the result, a complex fertilizer containing the necessary minerals for dahlias will help. It is applied approximately 2 weeks after planting in open ground.
