Why mold is dangerous for seedlings: do this immediately if you notice a coating in containers with seedlings

There are several reasons why mold may appear in containers with seedlings or pots with houseplants.

As the expert of the online publication Belnovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh explained, mold spores can be brought in the soil, sown with seeds or even live indoors on the surface of walls, etc.

Mold can harm plants at any stage of their development.

So, often in such cases the root system rots, the immunity of the seedlings decreases, as a result of which the seedlings become weak and partially die.

In addition, plants adapt poorly after such procedures as picking and transplanting. As a result, there is weak flowering and low yield.

The first thing to do is to eliminate all factors that favor mold. This means that you will have to reduce watering, make additional holes in the containers for drainage, place the containers on a sunny and warm windowsill, etc.

In addition, remove the top layer of soil covered with mold, then water the plantings with a solution of phytosporin (you can use another fungicide).

Instead of the removed soil, use disinfected soil. Use ash to dust both the soil and the root parts of the seedlings.

If the mold has penetrated deep into the soil, it is likely that this set of procedures will need to be carried out more than once.
